Hello folks,

Today I am going to tell about Guwahati, a city in India with the famous  shaktipeeth” Kamakhya Devi temple”. Hopefully, after reading this post, you will be able to travel without any travel agent help.

History of Kamakhya Devi temple

There are 51 shaktipeeths in India and it’s one of them. In the Kamagiri area of Guwahati district, Assam, maa sati’s vagina fell down at the Kamakhya place of Nilanchal mountain. hence it is called Kamakhya Devi Temple.

A big “Ambuvachi” fair is held here in the month of May, June. Many saints come to this fair. It is also a tantric place. If the wish is fulfilled then animals (not female animal) are sacrificed here.

It is also believed that – In these three days, there is a Menstruating of Mata sati and blood flows in place of water in the water tank. The doors of the temple are closed for these three days. After three days they are opened with great pomp. During the fair, The water of the Brahmaputra river turns red. It is believed that this water is the reason for sati’s Menstruation. There is no statue of goddess here instead of there is one stone in Vegina shape.

Note-
There is a long line for Darshan. People take a line in the temple at 3 am in the morning and do Darshan till the evening. If you don’t want to be in the long line, then you can buy VIP Tickets.
